A fun day out for all the family to enjoy, as Where is Peter Rabbit? comes to the Theatre Royal, Haymarket in London this Easter.

If there’s one person guaranteed to throw us into a blissful state of nostalgia, it’s Beatrix Potter. Her tales and illustrations bringing to life a cohort of woodland creatures have provided several generations with a healthy stock of bedtime stories. Now, a whole new audience gets to experience The Tales of Peter Rabbit, Mrs. Tiggy-Winky, Jemima Puddle-Duck et al in a new theatre production. Where is Peter Rabbit? has landed in London – and just in time for Easter, too.

The production, devised by Roger Glossop and directed by Sheila Carter, combines five of Beatrix Potter’s famous tales. As the title alludes, Peter Rabbit is missing for most of the show, while Potter – played by Joanna Brown – enlists the help of the mischievous bunny’s pals to track him down.

Although the narration, voiced by Griff Rhys Jones and Miriam Margolyes appears to be pre-recorded, the highlight is the incredible puppeteering bringing to life our favourite childhood characters. The charming songs written by playwright Alan Ayckbourn and punctuating the story are another plus.

Speaking about the production, Miriam Margolyes explains. “The characters leap into your heart. There is a directness and a freshness that comes through the text and they will live for all time.

“It’s a window back into childhood.”

And we couldn’t agree more!
