The royal family have finally announced the name of the new royal baby – Louis Arthur Charles.

In a statement, Kensington Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles.

“The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge.”

It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge introduced their newborn son to the world on Monday morning (23 April 2018), carrying the little prince out of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington and home to Kensington Palace, just seven hours after Kate Middleton gave birth.

Welcome to the family. Thank you everyone for your kind wishes.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte were seen visiting their little brother at the Lindo Wing in London alongside their father, who joked that he had “thrice the worry now”.

When someone asked him whether the couple had decided on a name for the baby, who is now fifth in line to the throne, Prince William said: “You’ll find out soon enough”.

Arthur, James, Philip and Albert were the baby names among the bookies’ favourites.
