Ever in search of the perfect family holiday for half term, Easter, or a Mother’s Day treat, we ventured to New Park Manor in the New Forest, part of the Luxury Family Hotels group.
As soon as you arrive at New Park Manor via its long gravel driveway, you’re instantly reminded of your location – think fields, forests and those famous New Forest ponies and deer before the spectacular manor house rolls into view.
Just one-and-a-half hours from London and moments from the idyllic villages of Brockenhurst, Lyndhurst and acres of New Forest National Park, New Park Manor is an idyllic escape for couples with babies, busy mums and dads with young children or babymooners, who want to combine all the indulgences of a luxury holiday with a true family-friendly atmosphere.
Buggies, high chairs and more are all included so you can pack light – they’ll liaise with you before you arrive to provide everything from cots and changing mats to nappy bins. Plus, each stay includes a 1.5 hour childcare babysitting service, whether you fancy a couples massage or just want a stroll to take in the country air.
Family Hotel Rooms
Rooms are truly designed with family in mind – think huge spaces, lots of plugs!, a TV and DVD player – with lots of movie options that the children will love. The huge windows are perfect to spot stags grazing on the lawns with the kids.
Around the hotel, an abundance of lounge spaces are perfect for parents to relax with a G&T while little ones play board games or draw in the snug zone, with beanbags, a comfy sofa, books, board games and movies on offer.
Dining at the Stone’s Throw Kitchen
After a day of unwinding and exploring, settle down for an evening of culinary delights at the restaurant and new Stone’s Throw Kitchen, offering up delicious British classics with a contemporary twist and using seasonal produce.
Choose from the family-friendly dining area, dog-friendly lounge or adults-only Stag Restaurant – the latter an option even for parents with kids with the baby monitor hiring service. Parents can simply plug the monitor into their room before settling their little ones down and eating dinner with the handset – allowing you to keep an eye on your baby and relax, knowing your room is also just steps away.
From a gorgeous Nduja and goat’s cheese bruschetta, fresh sea bream and duo of pork with mustard mash to brownie sundaes, the array of cuisine is suited to all ages – and, for the adults, it’s perfectly washed down with the extensive wine list.
Breakfast is plentiful with classics like Eggs Benedict and smoked salmon on offer for the adults and pancakes, dippy eggs and soldiers for little ones. The chefs can also deliver morning and evening milk to your room, free of charge, as well as providing pureed baby food from 7am to 7pm.
Family Activities at New Park Manor
The Den is the perfect place for kids aged three months and upwards and guests enjoy complimentary use for each night of their stay, while kids over eight can enjoy seasonal activities like biscuit decorating, garden games and nest cake baking.
There’s also a Cinema Room that shows daily movies at 6pm and 8pm for children, with popcorn available from reception.
Finally, for those who want to explore the New Forest by bicycle, the hotel can arrange cycle hire with a local company for guests with toddler seats and wagons, meaning they can come along too.
The Spa at New Park Manor
You may not associate the word spa and ‘relax’ with children, but New Park Manor is perfect for parents who want to indulge. Perhaps take advantage of the 1.5 hour babysitting service to soak in the outdoor hot tub with a glass of champagne or relax in the hydrotherapy pool, solarium, sauna and steam room, with large relaxation areas outside which are great for the warmer months.
Kids are more than welcome, too, though – they’ll love the swimming pool and next-door cafe for post-swim treats. The spa treatment rooms feel like another world, found down a dimly-lit, aromatherapy-scented corridor perfect for mums who need a pamper.
Rooms start from £150 per night for two adults and one child. Book here.
