Pippa Middleton welcomes her first child with husband James Matthews, giving Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis their first cousin
Pippa Middleton and James Matthews have welcomed their first child into the world – a little baby boy.
Arriving into the world just before 2pm on Monday 15 October at a healthy 8lb 9oz, Pippa gave birth at the Lindo Wing in West London, the same private hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge has welcomed all three of her children.
The little boy is the first cousin for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who will be treated to a second in spring next year when the Duchess of Sussex is due to give birth.

Both Pippa and James, who married in May 2017 in what was dubbed ‘the society wedding of the year’, attended the wedding of Princess Eugenie on Friday, with reports that Pippa was preparing to give birth any day. Unlike her sister Kate, Pippa has talked of a relatively easy pregnancy, charting her journey in her fitness column for Waitrose Weekend.
“As the final month nears and the bump grows prouder each day, movement is certainly getting more awkward,” Pippa wrote recently. “As a result, one of the biggest changes is that my lower body has tightened up. The knock-on effect is making my back and sacrum both uncomfortable and achy. The transformations to my body that are taking place as it prepares for childbirth have meant that the sound sleeps and the baby bubble effect have gone. Reality is finally kicking in.”
She was seen entering the maternity unit on Sunday evening in a long blue coat, white shoes and sunglasses, with her husband not far behing, who appeared to be carrying two overnight bags; one by Cam Cam Copenhagen and another by Nobodinoz.
The hospital is known for providing a premium service for its clients, with private en-suite rooms, gourmet food and even a wine list. A standard room at the wing costs £5,900, with a stay in one of the unit’s suites – available upon request – is thought to cost closer to £7,500.
