Today (26 September) is the most popular day for babies to be born in the UK, after parents had a very merry Christmas and Boxing Day.

According to the Office for National Statistics, today (26 September) is the most popular birthday in the UK, as Brits get cosy over Christmas and Boxing Day.

The government data, analysed by thortful.com shows that, on average, 2000 babies are born in the UK on 26 September, a figure higher than any other day of the year.

By working back nine months exactly from today’s date,  will take you to Boxing Day (25 December). So if you’re little one’s celebrating a birthday today, it’s likely they were conceived over the Christmas period. And if it’s your birthday, you know exactly what your parents were getting up to on Boxing Day.

It was also revealed that September as a whole is the most popular month to give birth in, proving that many of us really do get carried away with the Christmas festivities. In contrast, the 25 and 26 December are the two days when the least babies are born in the UK.

To mark this occasion, card company thortul.com have released a special collection of birthday cards with a few cheeky messages for those of us born on the most popular birthday.
