Meghan and Harry welcome baby boy.
Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have announced the arrival of their first child. And it’s a boy!
The lovely news was announced on the couple’s official Instagram account.
It has since been revealed the royal baby was born weighing 7lbs 3oz.
Speaking after the birth, an overjoyed Prince Harry explained: “I am very excited to announce that Meghan and myself had a baby boy early this morning. A very healthy boy.”
“Mother and baby are doing incredibly well. It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.”
Harry also revealed that the couple had a long time to think of a name for their son, due to his late arrival. However, we’re going to have to wait a little while to find out what they’ve chosen.
He added: “We are still thinking about names. The baby’s a little bit overdue, so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it, but that’s the next bit.
“We will be seeing you guys in two days’ time as planned, as a family, to share it with you guys so everyone can see the baby.”
This comes after the Duchess of Sussex had reportedly gone into labour in the early hours of this morning.
“It was in the early hours of this morning when the Duchess went into labour and the Duke was by her side,” Sky’s Royal Correspondent, Rhiannon Mills revealed.
Buckingham Palace confirmed the news with a statement.
“The Duchess of Sussex went into labour in the early hours of this morning.
“The Duke of Sussex was by Her Royal Highnesses’ side.
“An announcement will be made soon.”
Although a due date was never made public, it’s claimed that Meghan is about one week over due.
Prince Harry recently hinted at the imminent arrival of the couple’s first child, when it was revealed he had postponed an official visit to Amsterdam.
