Peter Crouch has teamed up with McDonald’s Happy Readers campaign for Christmas 2019
For the past six years, McDonald’s Happy Readers campaign has seen more than 70 million books distributed to families all over the UK. And this Christmas, the fast-food chain is upping it game further, by giving away 500,000 free printed copies of its festive storybook, The Adventures of Archie the Reindeer.
To order your copy, families simply need to head to the Reindeer Ready Hub and enter their details. There’ll also be a free Kindle version to download, if you’d prefer the story in e-book format.
If you don’t quite manage to get your hands on one, though, don’t be too disheartened – this Christmas also sees Peter Crouch take to the mic to narrate the audiobook version of this adorable festive story.
The footballing legend truly got into character putting on different hilarious voices for each character, including ‘Willow the badger’, ‘Robyn the robin’ and ‘Nigel the squirrel’.
“When I read to my kids, generally, I do try and put a voice on,” he grins. “I went a bit more cockney on the badger’s voice. He’s my favourite character!”
“I enjoyed doing the voices and hopefully I’ve done them justice,” he adds.
The now-retired footballer has four children with his wife, Abbey Clancy, and has said he’s excited about spending his first festive season with his family, without having to be on the football field.
“I’ve been playing [football] for 26 years, and I’ve never really had a Christmas. It’s generally our busiest time. It would be nice to spend it with the kids and the family, and not have to shoot off to a match or think about where I have to be.”
