Arsenal defender and England captain, Leah Williamson, is to make her CBeebies Bedtime Story debut telling the story ‘Remarkably You’, by Pat Zietlow Miller.
The footballing sensation Leah Williamson, who over recent months has been inspiring the next generation of young players, will be the first women’s footballer and next star to read a CBeebies Bedtime Story, on Friday 24 March.
Ahead of the FA’s Women’s Football Weekend, a weekend dedicated to supporting women’s teams across the sport, Leah will be encouraging children to follow their dreams, no matter how big or small.
‘Remarkably You’, illustrated by Patrice Barton, reassures children that it’s their differences that makes them special and that being unique should be celebrated.
Leah Williamson said: “I had so much fun reading this book for CBeebies Bedtime Stories. I’m passionate about empowering the next generation to follow their dreams and that’s what ‘Remarkably You’ is all about. I hope it encourages the little ones watching to use their passions as their superpower.”
Previous sports stars that have read a CBeebies Bedtime Story include Harry Kane, Anthony Joshua, Rob Burrow and Jessica Ennis-Hill. Other famous faces to have leafed through a Bedtime Story include Dolly Parton, Tom Hardy, Ryan Reynolds, Natalie Dormer and Kate Winslet to name a few.
As part of Women’s Football Weekend, the BBC will also bring live coverage of Women’s Super League matches. Manchester City vs Chelsea will be on BBC One and iPlayer from 12:25pm, and BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds from 12:40pm on Sunday 26 March.
