Ahead of what’s set to be the busiest summer for air travel yet, new data from Amazon has revealed what worries parents the most when it comes to travelling
This summer is set to be one of the busiest for travel since records began, following a record-breaking 770,000 flights handled in the UK last summer. Data released by Amazon Prime Video marked 20thJuly as the biggest day of the year for digital downloads, with parents preparing for the big summer getaway now the school holidays have commenced.
In fact, almost half of parents are more worried about keeping their kids entertained while travelling this summer than about losing luggage, remembering boarding passes and exchanging foreign currency – the only thing that’s more terrifying that forgetting the iPad is leaving behind the passports! A huge 83% of parents will take a tablet on holiday with them for the kids to use, with leaving the tech at home more of a concern than forgetting their child’s favourite cuddly toy or even their own toothbrush.
“It’s no surprise to us that we’ve become a nation of digital packers – we know our customers value being able to watch their favourite shows when, where and how they want, and we’re happy that Prime Video can offer that choice,” said Jay Marine, VP of Prime Video Europe. “Whether it’s back-to-back episodes of Peppa Pig in the car or binge-watching the upcoming blockbuster Jack Ryan when the kids have finally gone to sleep – we have thousands of movies and TV shows for families to enjoy this summer.”
It takes the average parent five hours and 18 minutes to pack for a family holiday, with typically two items accidently left at home – most likely to be phone chargers, toothbrushes and the hair brush.
TV shows and films are typically downloaded a week before the departure day, with the most popular shows for UK customers according to Amazon data including Paw Patrol, Peppa Pig and Pingu, with top films listed as Beauty and the Beast, The BFG and The Lego Movie.
