A win, win...

Here’s how you could score free childcare for three months if you got lucky this Valentine’s Day.

As if you needed another reason to amp up the romance this Valentine’s Day, one of the UK’s leading childcare providers is offering free childcare for couples who conceive on 14th February.

As part of their Newborn Nanny initiative Childcare.co.uk, will give away three months of newborn childcare for free to couples who ‘sow the seed’ this Valentine’s Day.This means if your little one is born on 20th November 2020 (exactly 40 weeks on from 14th February) you could be eligible for free childcare worth around £6000.

Although a fun new scheme (and one we’re sure many couples will be keen to put to the test Valentine’s Day), the thought behind the campaign is to offer some much needed help and support to new parents in the fourth trimester.

It’s no secret that the first few weeks with a newborn can be a challenging time for parents. However, when speaking to their members, Childcare.co.uk found that almost all answered ‘no’ when asked if they are comfortable being open about struggling as a new parent.

The survey also revealed that new parents struggled most with lack of sleep (42%), loneliness (26%) and around a fifth cited ‘judgement’ from other parents as a primary concern.

To help tackle these taboos, the Newborn Nannies can assist new parents with the first three months of a baby’s life, giving them a chance to bond with their new baby with as little added stress as possible. They can help with night time feeds, offer emotional support and practical advice, help organise a new-born’s schedule and medical check-ups, cook for the family and help with household chores.

Speaking about the new initiative, Richard Conway, founder of Childcare.co.uk, said, “It’s a well-known fact that having a child is life changing and sometimes not as fun as ‘making’ them!

“For many, it’s one of the most beautiful times of their lives, but I think just as many find it incredibly stressful, which is why we wanted to offer our services to help new parents adjust.”

With childcare often being at huge financial costs to parents, Richard also went on to explain the reasoning behind the free childcare concept.

“Although we want this initiative to be fun, we also want to highlight that parent guilt is a very real thing, and it’s something that, as a company, we’re trying to help eradicate,” he explains.

“There are thousands of parents across the UK who don’t get the help they need, because of the stigma that surrounds admitting you’re struggling. We want to give new parents in the UK some help in what we know can be an equally challenging time in their lives, as well as diminish the stigma around wanting some extra help.”

To be eligible for the £6k worth of childcare, you will need to be a member of Childcare.co.uk. You also need to prove that your baby is born on the 20th Nov (exactly 9 months after Valentine’s Day) with a photo of the birth certificate.
