Arranging an urban adventure can get pretty stressful; from finding the perfect attractions for the family, to locating refreshment points and places in the park for little ones can enjoy. By using this cool new map, you can find the closest transport links, facilities to change your baby within the park and much more.
Whether it’s a relaxing day soaking up the sun, al fresco lunch or children’s activities, London’s has a lot to offer. Here’s a roundup of some of Mamas & Papas favourite parks across the capital.
North London: Regent’s Park
If there’s one thing children love it’s animals – ZSL London Zoo in Regent’s Park will keep your little one entertained and inspired for hours. For a more laid back day, take a stroll down the beautiful Avenue Gardens into Queen Mary’s Garden, which houses a stunning collection of roses, and will put any mind at ease. A brisk walk up Primrose Hill will gift you with one of the most iconic views over the London skyline; it’s the perfect spot for a picnic with the family, but first make sure you stock up on cake at Primrose Hill Bakery!
West London: Kensington Gardens
On a scorching summer’s day head to the Diana Memorial Fountain in Kensington Gardens to soak, splash and slide along the accessible water feature. There is also a commemorative play area, which includes a giant wooden pirate ship with walkways, slides and swings; perfect to spark little imaginations. Designed for children up to age 12, the equipment in this play area caters for varying ages and abilities, and there is also a handy café nearby.
Alternatively, head past the Peter Pan Statue towards the beautiful Kensington Palace where children can enter free of charge and take part in the summer schedule of children’s activities.
East London: Victoria Park
Located in East London, and the largest park in Tower Hamlets, Victoria Park is a popular location for kids as it houses two children’s play areas, a boating late, skate park and splash pool too. Victoria Park does particularly well when it comes to keeping the children’s appetite satisfied, as there are two cafes, plenty of picnic benches and an ice cream van or two. Its flat wide landscape is perfect for bike rides and long walks with buggy in tow.
South London: Richmond Park
This Royal park and conservation area has a real sense of history, with its ancient English Oak trees lining the many paths. This is the ideal park to bring the kids to see some wildlife, as over 600 deer roam free alongside over 100 species of birds. The park also offers a host of sporting activities to keep the children busy, including cycling, kiting and horse riding.
