Ellie Goulding, mum of eighteen-month-old Arthur and WWF ambassador, has spoken up about climate change and why it has always been important to her. As a new mum, Ellie is even more inspired to fight for the future of our planet. Find out more below.

Musician and activist Ellie Goulding joined host Cel Spellman on the new series of the WWF podcast, Call of the Wild, about about how becoming a new mum increased her desire to stand up for nature.

Together they discussed how inaction in the music industry spurred Ellie on to speak up about climate change on social media, the different responses from her fans, and how becoming a new mum increased Ellie’s desire to stand up for nature.

Ellie has supported WWF for a number of years and became a WWF Ambassador in spring 2022. Ellie says in the podcast: “I don’t want my son growing up in a world where already one million species are at risk of extinction.

“I don’t want him growing up in a world where… all the things that are in his books, and all the animal noises he likes to make… could be gone and lost forever… He doesn’t deserve to, and neither do any young generations. We are the generation to change this for them. And so we just have to do it. We have no choice.”

After doing extensive scientific research, Ellie “figured that nature was… being royally screwed, and nobody was really doing anything.

“I think it’s very important to remember that collective power is so, so strong. And when we all put our voices together, we really can influence people… political leaders and businesses and industries – the people that we really need to cut carbon emissions.”

Cel Spellman agreed: “The need to turn the tide on the climate and biodiversity crises has never been more urgent and apparent.

“I’m buzzing to be back for this new series of the podcast, as we look at some of the ways we can take action today to support the people and nature most affected.”

Ellie’s episode of Call of the Wild is out now, available on all podcast providers. Listen here.
