Ed Sheeran is set to make his CBeebies Bedtime Stories debut on Friday 5th November.
Musician Ed Sheeran is the latest celebrity to be named in a lineup of famous readers tasked with keeping little ones entertained with a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
Swapping singing for storytime, Ed will be reading I Talk Like a River by Jordan Scott and Sydney Smith. It’s the moving story of a boy with a stutter, whose father helps him by explaining that the flow of his words is like a river. Opening up about his own experiences with a stutter as a young boy, Ed explains why this book is such a good fit for his CBeebies Bedtime Stories debut.
“Growing up, I had a stutter like the boy in I Talk Like a River, so I’m delighted to be reading this story for CBeebies Bedtime Stories, especially as I’m a new dad myself,” says Ed.
“I hope the story helps inspire and support other children who stutter.”
Ed, and his wife Cherry Seabourn, welcomed a baby girl in September 2020. Taking to Instagram to share the happy news, and reveal his daughters unique name, Ed wrote: “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.
“We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x.”
By appearing on the much loved CBeebies show, Ed is following in the footsteps of other a number of other global musicians including Dave Grohl, Dolly Parton, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Rag’n’Bone Man, Sir Elton John, George Ezra, Alesha Dixon, Robbie Williams, Mark Ronson and Will Young. Other famous faces such as Tom Hardy, Felicity Jones, Regé-Jean Page, Tom Hiddleston, Orlando Bloom and Joanna Page.
