About Ira & Isla

Jasleen founded Ira & Isla Baby and Kids after realizing that high quality, classic traditional dresses were impossible to find. She says: “I bought many dresses from luxury designers however the quality was not as expected and being a designer myself I always looked at the seam finishes and quality.

“I found it difficult to find such beautifully made fashions in stores and when I did find something it was prohibitively expensive to buy and not made to the high quality I expected.”

clothing-brand-of-month-ira-islaA designer herself and interning at Mathew Williamson during her degree at London College of Fashion, she started designing a collection after the birth of Ira & Isla and cutting patterns and making samples and toiles.

“I used the girls to model samples and toiles, drape fabric and to work out what shapes fit well and what would adapt best to children’s bodies.

“Growing up, my mum would sew all of our clothes and I remember her creating matching ‘mummy and me’ dresses for special occasions when I was a little girl, I wish we’d kept them!”
