We round up the best baby carriers, wraps and slings you can buy right now.
Having the freedom to move around and use your hands while carrying your baby is a dream scenario for busy parents. So we’ve scoured high and low to find the best baby carriers.
An essential item of baby kit, they allow you to go about your day, without having to navigate hefty buggies and pushchairs. You can also soothe and relax your little one as they rest close to your chest, while your hands are free to tackle other parenting tasks.
However, choosing the right baby carrier to suit you and your baby can be tricky. There are a number of different types and styles. From slings and wraps to structured backpacks, we’ve compiled a handy guide to hands-free baby carriers.
What are the Different Types?
Although baby carriers come in many different styles, shapes and sizes, there are two main types.
The sling (or wrap) is traditionally made with long pieces of fabric, which wrap around you and your baby, keeping you close together. The other type is more structured and can be fastened with either a buckle or straps. It will usually come with a waist-support and padded shoulder straps, too.
Both types of carriers can be adjusted to change the baby’s position. However, structured baby carriers often provide more options on how your baby can sit – either on your front, back or hip.
Baby carriers can also vary in age-range. Some will only be suitable for newborns, while other baby carries can be adjusted to hold different weights as your baby grows.
